The beautiful photographs that claim to legislate in favor of breastfeeding in public

Where better than asking for the right to breastfeeding in public than in front of the institutions that have the power to legislate? This is what photographer Vanessa A. Simmons has thought, which shows us some beautiful photographs that claim to legalize in favor of breastfeeding in different cities of the United States.

Because not regulating this right involves some dangers and sadly we meet them too often: when a mother is "invited" to breastfeed in another place, or to be covered, or not allowed to enter a certain establishment ... That is, when in some way or another it is discriminated against.

The cover image is taken in front of the California Capitol, in Sacramento, and in the Vanessa A. Simmons website Normalize Breastfeeding we can see the rest of pictures of mothers breastfeeding in front of the governmental and legislative institutions of each city: in Austin (Texas), Hartford (Connecticut), Lansing (Michigan), Washington, Louisiana, Hawaii, Oklahoma, New York ...

In collaboration with nine other photographers, they wanted to encourage families and supporters of breastfeeding to come together to take a similar picture and give visibility to their requests, their rights.

Photographers and moms who pose with their children claim on the one hand as we have said the legal right to breastfeed in public and on the other hand the legal right to express breast milk at work for your child, situations that vary from state to state and from country to country. In general it is a question about which he plans a lot of misinformation.

But society must be clear that breastfeeding is not only a fundamental right of the mother but also of her baby, as of any person feeding. Babies feed on demand contributing to their correct development and growth and this cannot be presided over or impeded. If you have to stand in front of the courts, congress, senate ... it is done, even if it was not necessary!

World tour to normalize breastfeeding

On the same website Normalize Breastfeeding We have a fabulous project based on photography, "Tour to normalize breastfeeding", the breastfeeding normalization tour that travels through different communities, helping to connect its members and spread the need for normalization, since the images , with the permission of the mothers, can be used in hospitals, health centers, campaigns for breastfeeding…

Anyone can register to participate in this tour (at least ten participants are needed for a new meeting to take place) and at the moment it is taking place in different corners of the United States, but soon the photographer will also be in Brazil, Mexico…

We leave you with the photographs of Vanessa A. Simmons and we invite you to know his Candid Perspective Photography website committed to breastfeeding, family and childhood with more precious snapshots.
