The distressing dreams of new mothers

It is very common that women who have just been mothers, especially those who have been for the first time, have disturbing dreams related to newborn care.

Some women dream that the baby is lost, beaten, cries and does not hear, or runs some kind of risk, but it is still a reaction to the new responsibility of motherhood.

Apparently, there is a fairly recurring dream in the firsts called "baby in bed" (BIB) in which the mother dreams that the baby is lost somewhere in the bed and is stirring the sheets, screaming and waking the desperate husband when the baby is peacefully sleeping in his crib.

The Sleep Research Center at Montreal Sacre-Coeur Hospital notes that sometimes dreams are so intense that they reach the level of hallucinations.

A team of experts conducted a study with several groups of women, some had just given birth, others were pregnant and others did not expect or have children.

The women of the first two groups admitted to suffer nightmares and disturbing dreams with their babies. 75% of the mothers who had given birth recently said they had anxious dreams in which the baby was in danger while in pregnant women the percentage was 59%.

It is very normal that at that primordial moment in the life of every woman, our psyche is completely absorbed by the concerns about the new baby, both during the day and when we sleep.

Do not be overwhelmed by fantasies, try to rest while your baby sleeps during the day and enjoy being a mother for the first time that is something wonderful.

Try to relax and bring your new situation naturally that is the best formula to ward off nightmares.
