DIY Advent calendars that you will love

I'm dying to start making our Advent Calendar this year, and I have chosen these designs so requetebonitos that I found sniffing around the net. Oh! I don't know which one to stay with, I may check with the pillow tonight, or my daughter (most likely option) may decide unilaterally that she likes that or that one.

Fixed the issue of “what will we do?”, We will be left with the materials little by little, and get there in the middle of November, "get to work" to have it ready on time, like last year (and previous years) on December 1.

The realization in simple in all cases, so I will give you some brief notions, because the more creative you are to vary or innovate, the more you will enjoy and the result will be more to your liking

With oven trays

Of those that are made with silicone and serve to bake some delicious muffins ... Well, the idea is to choose one that has enough holes (24) and turn each little hole into surprise boxes. Then you cut out circular pieces of colored cardboard that cover, and draw on them the numbers (1 to 24, remember Advent is the wait before Jesus is born), or you can mark the contour of the number with glue stick and fill it with glitter, cut numbers and paste them, etc. The idea has been found in Cztery Katy.

With coffee cups

Paper: it will cost you a little more, but nothing you can't solve with a couple of warm evenings at home (if one day the low temperatures deign to come). Get 24 cups, make a pair of holes on each side that match so as not to unbalance them, pass raffia cord and decorate them with moving eyes - in haberdasheries or craft stores -, and very small buttons or crushed plasticine balls, to glue you use glue white Finally you knot a more consistent cord, in the photo it looks like lined wire, it would also be worth loft thread (although it is uglier) or a braid of woolen threads, to hold the cups with clothespins. Megan, from Balancing Home, is the architect of this proposal.

With yogurt containers

What a useful resource for so many crafts! In my house it is not because we make yogurt with yogurt maker, but let's recognize that if there is a taste for this tasty and healthy post, several empty glasses are generated per week. Is this your case? then you see cleaning and reserving them (you need 24, you know that). Once lined and having made a nice lid in patent paper (for example); they will be the secret place of surprises, and the process is similar to the trays, only on this occasion you need a support to hold them. How ?, then you can empty the corkboard of the children's room, or buy a pen cardboard size A 2 or A 3 (measure well), once you have it clear you stick a pushpin or nail finite and short in the bottom of the container, holding it well to the support, as they will not weigh much sure they endure. I found it in Alternatives Blog of Le Monde.

With short cardboard rolls (like WC)

Following the process we explained here, you can get a beautiful result, especially if you are looking for a special paper to cover them (bright white, silver, gold), and if you draw some snow stars and numbers on other special papers (as a gift? scrapbook?), which you will glue on the face of the roll. As you can see in the photo, they have achieved a rather rough finish but resulton, lining the support with burlap cloth, and hanging the rolls with dovecote, then hooked using small nails for crafts. It is in Broadview Heights.

With clothes pegs

Almost essential in the craft closet, this time they will save you more than a headache, you just have to hit the numbers (the template comes in the blog that I review), and hang them (24) on a circle of one 15 or 20 centimeters in diameter, which could well be a hidden gift for the end, carefully wrapped. Kirsty Wiseman is the one who has discovered this latest Advent Calendar that we wanted to present to you, and its simplicity has captivated us. In addition, hanging on the door handle will make it easier for children to release pliers ... only if you do so, take care that they are not tempted to discover the surprise.

The question is: What do I put as a surprise in these calendars for each day?, at your leisure. Maybe this older post will serve you, but in general you should think about the meaning of Advent and Christmas in your family, avoid that there are always sweets, etc. Thus: toys, carols in sachets to sing them, a chocolate one day, a figurine of nativity scene, a roll of metallic wrapping paper, to encourage you to make crafts on vacation, ... In the latter, you do not have to put anything.

And always always, remember to number them ...
