Testimonies of mothers who have suffered postpartum depression: you are not alone, ask for help

Postpartum depression is more frequent than we think, but it is often underestimated and sometimes banalized, so it is so important to make it visible for women to realize that they are not alone, that it is necessary to recognize it and ask for help.

A woman who has just become a mother should feel infinitely happy, but the truth is that not everyone has that feeling. Some feel sad, frustrated, discouraged, generating a sense of guilt or comments from people who further aggravate their fragile emotional situation.

To bring to light what these women feel and raise awareness about the importance of asking for help, a campaign launched in Puerto Rico by Brandshare shares the testimony of several mothers who have suffered postpartum depression.

More than half of recent mothers experience feelings of discomfort, sadness, irritability, melancholy or anxiety in the first days after delivery. It is a very frequent phenomenon that is known as "maternity blues" or "babyblues". But of them, between 10 and 25% will present a depressive symptomatology after giving birth.

That initial sadness is very frequent and usually disappears within a few days, but to avoid it going further it is advisable to know in advance how to overcome it thanks to these tips.
