Tattoo artist Kat Von D announces pregnancy and unleashes the controversy by saying she won't vaccinate her baby

I've always thought that social networks can be very risky. On the one hand, they are excellent for supporting some cause and transmitting important and verified information. But on the other, they are a channel to continue perpetuating wrong beliefs that could affect many people.

I consider that as a celebrity, influencer, blogger or any public figure that has a certain number of followers, it is very important to take care of what is published or commented, especially on important issues such as health, whether children or adults. Of course, every now and then we see a publication that burns the networks, especially when it comes to celebrities.

Now, she has been the tattoo artist, makeup artist and businesswoman Kat Von D who has unleashed controversy by announcing her pregnancy and declaring that she is not in her plans to vaccinate her baby, who will also educate to be vegan.

When celebrities become mothers

In recent years and with the use of social networks on the rise, we have access to the personal lives of celebrities and celebrities, so It is common to follow or know more details of your personal life, such as when they become mothers.

Some choose to keep their lives private as mothers, hiding their pregnancies and keeping secret their decisions as mothers about raising and caring for children. Others choose the opposite and they are very open about their role and decisions as moms.

This can have many advantages as being public figures, they can help promote positive actions or causes. We have seen famous mothers share photos breastfeeding to help normalize breastfeeding or talk about postpartum depression to help raise awareness about it.

But what happens when what they promote not only goes against health recommendations, but also endangers the lives of others? This is what happens with the recent statements of Kat Von D.

Raising a vegan child without vaccines, Kat Von D's plans

Returning to the topic of this article, let's talk about Kat Von D's recent announcement and why her message has caused so much controversy, to the extent of receiving thousands of messages and letters in which people accuse her of being irresponsible and even talk about boycotting her brand of cosmetics and stop buying your products.

Through a post on her Instagram account, the tattoo artist and businesswoman announced the pregnancy of her first baby with a picture of her belly, but also accompanied by a strong message about your personal decisions.

I knew the minute we announced our pregnancy that we would be bombarded with unsolicited advice. Some good and some questionable - unsolicited none the less. I also was prepared for the backlash and criticism we would get if we decided to be open about our personal approach to our pregnancy. My own Father flipped out on me when I told him we decided to ditch our doctor and go with a midwife instead. If you don't know what its like have people around you think you are ridiculous, try being openly vegan. And, if you don't know what its like to have the entire world openly criticize, judge, throw uninformed opinions, and curse you - try being an openly pregnant vegan on Instagram, having a natural, drug-free home birth in water with a midwife and doula, who has the intention of raising a vegan child, without vaccinations. My point being I already know what its like to make life choices that are not the same as the majority. So your negative comments are not going influence my choices - actual research and educating myself will - which i am diligently doing. This is my body. This is our child. And this is our pregnancy journey. Feel free to follow me on here if you like what Im about - whether its tattooing, lipstick, Animal Rights, sobriety, feminism, ridiculous gothiness, black flower gardening, cats, or my adorable husband. But if you dont dig a certain something about what I post, i kindly ask that you press the unfollow button and move the fuck on. So before anyone of you feel inspired to tell me how to do this, I would appreciate you keeping your unsolicited criticism to yourself. More importantly, for those who have amazing positive energy to send my way, I will gladly and graciously receive it with love X

"I knew that the minute we announced our pregnancy we would be bombarded with unsolicited advice. Some good, some questionable, but in the end, not requested. I was prepared for the reactions and criticisms we would have if we decided to be open about our pregnancy decisions"Kat Von D. began to explain.

Comment that even his father was disturbed when he learned that they had chosen to use a midwife and not a doctor for the delivery of their baby. He continues to refer to how difficult it is to be openly vegan because the people around him think it is ridiculous. And then it comes to the part that has caused controversy:

And, if they don't know what it is to have the whole world openly criticizing you, judging you, throwing you uninformed opinions and cursing you, try to be openly vegan and pregnant on Instagram, have a water birth at home, drug free, accompanied by a midwife and a doula, and also intend to educate a vegan child without vaccines.

He goes on to say that he is used to having opinions that are opposite to what most people think and that the negative comments of others will not influence their decisions, but will only do the research and education that she herself is diligently doing.

"This is my body. This is our son. And this is our pregnancy trip", he declares. And he ends his message by" kindly "inviting those who disagree with his opinions to stop following her and go to hell.

Thousands of followers of the tattoo artist and makeup artist They have expressed themselves as "disappointed" by their stance on vaccines, even though they have been admired for other things for years, such as its line of cosmetics or supporting feminist causes.

While he has received many messages attacking him, also They have written asking him to inform himself well and change his mind, not only because it is a figure that thousands of people follow, but because it puts the life of their future baby and many other people at risk.
