Hypotherapy is a therapeutic alternative to enhance the integration of supervised children

The Community of Madrid offers a horse therapy to improve the self-esteem of supervised children. In addition, this discipline expands the ability of children to interact with others. It is a pioneer activity that takes place in the School of Small Tamers of the children's residence Casa de Torremocha.

Hypotherapy or therapeutic riding, is a rehabilitation activity It consists of taking advantage of the three-dimensional movements of the horse to stimulate muscles and joints of the one who rides it. And also reinforces the self-esteem, motivation and concentration of children.

The school of Torremocha del Jarama has been carrying out this innovative therapy for many years with supervised children under 3 to 18 years old. These supervised children, due to different circumstances, cannot live with their family and are protected by the Administration.

So, hippotherapy is an instructive and very positive activity for children that provides them with self-esteem, motivation and concentration in their activities as well as enhancing group interaction. In addition to hippotherapy, at school they can be performed activities with orchards and crops.

In Torremocha there are 28 places and they are part of the almost 2,000 residential places that the Community of Madrid maintains in its network of centers for the care of minors in guard or guardianship. These children account for 40% of the total of which the other 60% are in foster care.
