Premature birth is related to learning difficulty

According to a study prepared by British researchers, Babies born prematurely may experience some type of learning disability or some type of disability.. The study shows that two-year-old children who were born prematurely, have a slower development of the cerebral cortex and show less mental abilities than children born born in the pregnancy cycle.

Apparently, the evolution that the brain undergoes when the baby is inside the mother's uterus (the surface of the brain called the cortex), is different when the baby is in the outside world since it is subjected to different pressures, being able to alter said development

Brain development was studied in 113 children who were born between the 22nd and 29th week of gestation with magnetic resonance imaging, 63 babies of the total group were studied until two years of age and were found to have a slower development of cerebral cortex. They affirm that it is very important that the baby is born fulfilling the period of nine months, necessary time so that the cellular network under the cortex develops properly and exerts the necessary function to distribute the neurons where they are needed.

Thanks to this discovery, babies born prematurely can be monitored through magnetic resonance imaging and thus provide them with medical support for their proper mental development. As we always say, each medical discovery is another step to facilitate optimal development in babies.
