Music, beneficial for premature babies

The calming effect of music is undeniable. Music therapy has important benefits for people, even for babies born before term.

A Canadian study confirms these advantages by stating that the music reduces pain and facilitates the feeding of premature babies.

Although they were previously considered simple reflex reactions due to the immaturity of their nervous system, several investigations have shown that premature babies may feel pain.

It has been a breakthrough in the humanization of the treatment of premature babies, and not only that, but it has become essential to provide methods to relieve the pain caused by probes, punctures and other medical tests.

Breastfeeding is one of those methods, since during the suction the body releases endorphins, natural substances with high analgesic power that relieve pain while being welcomed into the breast the little one feels more relaxed and has less perception of pain .

Music, preferably classical melodies, babysitters and music performed by female solitas, due to its calming effect is also one of the methods that help relieve pain in premature babies.

On the other hand, there is a strong interaction between music and breastfeeding. The music stimulates breastfeeding because under relaxing conditions both mother and baby relax by facilitating the taking of food by the baby.

This type of research is a great finding because they contribute to improving the stress conditions of premature babies that later influence their future life.
