Post Adoption Depression

Postpartum depression is a phenomenon linked to the hormonal storm that follows pregnancy but it is also an emotional and psychic issue born of the great change that a woman faces when she becomes a mother. There is also the post-adoption depression.

A study recently published in the American journal Western Journal of Nursing Research and conducted by Dr. Karen Foli has just revealed that adoptive mothers may also suffer from depression parallel to "baby blues" or postpartum sadness.

The mother, when she receives her adopted child, must also reconsider her vital priorities and recalls her childhood and her relationship with her mother, trying to discover herself, assuming the positive of her own upbringing and reinventing how she is going to do it herself.

When a baby is born a mother is also born and that triggers a very intense emotional storm in the woman. This psychic situation also occurs in women adopters, they are also born as mothers and the rebirth is not without fear, unleashed emotions and reconstruction of the image of itself.

Many things are removed from the past, childhood and life history itself.

Know that adoptive mothers can also suffer a post-adoption depression linked to the arrival of your child should be taken into account when designing health prevention strategies and early care.
