MomFeed, the mechanical arm to bottle feed the baby

Today we are going to talk about an implausible gadget that is marketed in Korea, the MomFeed, a mechanical arm that feeds the baby with a bottle. It seems to me the height of futility, even though it was conceived as a “special gift” for mothers.

To avoid fatigue of the arm, to be able to perform other tasks while the baby is feeding (it is that they eat very often as children), the MomFeed will calm the baby automatically. And where are the arms of mom or dad?

The invention reminded me of mechanical feeding on farms, and when I see the images of babies hooked to MomFeed, I can't help those orphanages where babies are treated inhumanly, with hardly any contact with people, come to mind, with the serious emotional consequences that this entails.

I already imagine that probably the parents who get this gadget will not have their babies unattended, or at least not continuously, but it seems that they are invented for it.

If they already exist carts or cradles that swing alone, and we have seen different models in the blog, this seems to me the height of comfort and unnecessary. One more twist to what would be so easy (and economical) to do without buying these inventions.

At least, it is comforting to know that the recommendations for use specify that

MomFeed is not a self-feeding device but an auxiliary instrument that allows mothers to feed properly, so NEVER leave your baby unattended. ALWAYS keep the baby in sight while feeding with MomFeed.

They also recommend feeding the newborn baby in arms and only use this mechanical arm when they grow up. If the child rejects it, be patient and "plug" the device when it is half asleep to get used to ...

And to all this, which is already enough to deny the MomFeed, you have to add the dangerous thing about the device, which can fall according to the surface on which we install it and harm the baby. It also gives the impression that it can be dangerous if the baby regurgitates, or does not want more, can he part with the nipple? Hardly if not with help, of course.

The saddest thing is that there will be families that, in the name of modernity and consumerism, will be made with this device. If here the most "in" bottles can be the new Nespresso machine, so little recommended for babies and family pockets, in Korea the most innovative and cool be the MomFeed (hopefully not).

From Maternal Love we discovered that there is already a Facebook page against the device, and it is not surprising that it has more followers than the official website of the MomFeed, the mechanical arm to bottle feed babies which no longer requires people of flesh and blood for the task (pleasure) of feeding the baby.
