Snowmen to decorate the house at Christmas

At home we usually begin to decorate the house from December 8, it is a tradition that I have maintained since I was a child and I saw how my mother developed one by one the figures of Belen to start assembling it.

From the weeks before Christmas and until after the Magi, the house it becomes a kind of exhibition that alternates plastic dolls representing the shepherds, a wooden portal, the tree that we have had for two years, crafts that children do in school and various decorative objects that we usually do together.

I have been looking for ideas and I have found these decorated pots as if they were snowmen, they are a genius, so I thought you would like them too. Snowmen are not among the most representative icons of Christian Christmas, but as in the Northern hemisphere of the Planet the celebration takes place in Winter, it is almost inevitable to use them as a symbol.

We need:

  • A small terracotta pot for each snowman (you can find them in florists or specialty craft stores), old wool socks (or gloves), satin ribbons to decorate, a small headband, wrapping paper, white tail, pompoms colored (can be manufactured at home with wool), acrylic paint and permanent black marker.

How do we make snowmen in pots?

As you can see in the picture, the pot must be painted white that will serve as a basis to continue the decoration, we leave free the upper edge that is placed 'face down' and on it we paste a strip of wrapping paper of the same width.

'Imagination to power': eyes, mouth and cheeks as we want, we can give them the desired expression, and we will wait for each coat of paint to dry before applying a next one; We also use the black marker for more precise profiles.

In order to get a nice hat we just have to cut the remaining piece of sock (after reserving the foot), or the fingers of the glove. A fold will grant realism, and a ribbon can be used to form a nice detail on the top. With the pompoms attached to a headband you can make some fun earmuffs.

If each family member makes their own snowman it will be much more entertaining, and sure we get very original results. Do you cheer up?
