Doctor Tea helps reduce anxiety in medical visits of children with autism

Going to the doctor is not a dish of pleasure for many children, and it is especially difficult for those with autism spectrum disorders (ASD). These children usually have higher degrees of anxiety and phobias related to the medical environment when compared to other children.

For them, it has developed Doctor Tea, a web with cartoons, videos and animations created to help reduce anxiety in medical visits of children with autism.

It provides information on the most frequent medical practices that are done to these children so that they can understand them and be better prepared to face them before going.

Doctor Tea, explains to the children how the blood tests will be performed, or how the visits to the dentist or ophthalmologist will be, for example. They are also presented to various professionals such as nurses, psychologists, neurologists, as well as the most common instruments used in medical tests and other hospital elements.

It includes games and activities so that the child becomes familiar with the medical environment and is better prepared for the next visit. The wait makes them especially nervous, and when they go into consultation they can be very disturbed, making the exploration even more complicated.

Therefore, Doctor Tea seems to us a great success to help reduce the stress and anxiety that children with ASD produce visits to the doctor.
