Now on sale Lammily, the doll with more real measures

A little over a year ago we explained the story of Nickolay Lamm, an artist who decided to create a Barbie with the measurements of a normal girl (19-year-old woman with average height and weight of the US) and put her next to a real Barbie to Let us see the differences.

The result went around the world and Lamm decided that, why not, something like that could come true. He created a crowdfunding campaign with the design of a doll with these measures and now Lammily, the doll with more real measurements (and we say more real, compared to the usual Barbie, Monster High and company), Already on sale.

Why not?

It is a doll that we like very much for what it represents. A young girl with a height and proportions like the average. Some measures that not all girls have, but that are real. Barbie, for example, are totally unreal. There is no woman who has these measures.

Many people will think that typical dolls are nothing more than that, dolls, and then it doesn't make much sense to create a more real doll. Why such a doll? They ask. But I think what we have to do is flip the tortilla and say, why not? If a Barbie doesn't create frustration for girls, suppose, Lammily neither will it, so now there are more options: tall and thin dolls with impossible bodies and dolls with normal height and measurements, like those of many current women.

Because if

We speak, of course, of the assumption that Barbie does not generate any expectation in girls, but as we discussed in the first entries, 6 to 10 year old girls who play with thin dolls eat less.

And that's not all, girls aged 5 to 8 who play with Barbie have a worse concept about your body and a greater desire to be thin.

So, as you will see in the following video that serves as an announcement of Lammily, "it is time to be real." Something has to change. Stop. Like the model who said she didn't want Photoshop done with her photos, like our criticism of the modern explorer Dora, like the criticism of the Monster High, who look like prostitutes, like the artist who showed the Disney princesses with a waist real, like ... it's time to say that it is worth showing girls an image of a woman that does not exist, which only causes them insecurities, alters their self-esteem and makes them fall into the spiral of desire and longing to be a person they are not and never will be.
