Ready, Set, Go! Seven tips to go back to school

Summer is coming to an end and it is time to return to school routines. In September the children will return to the classroom, some will do it for the first time, and there are many things to prepare.

The organization is key so that everything goes smoothly and you all have a good start to the course, so we give you seven tips to go back to school.

Do you already have the books and the material?

To start without stress, avoid buying books at the last minute. If you still do not have them, take advantage of these days to buy them, as well as all the necessary school supplies. Review the material from previous years (backpack, case, pencils, markers, etc ...) and make a list of what you need to replace.

Prepare the uniforms

If it is the first year in school you will have to buy the whole new uniform. If not, try the one from the previous course to check that it is still doing well. Children grow a lot during the summer and there is almost always something new to buy.

If your children do not go to school with a uniform, get a few basic clothes and good shoes to make them comfortable from day one.

Mark it all with your name

It is essential to name all the clothes and material to avoid a headache as soon as you start the course. Children come a little clueless from the holidays and the first days are likely to lose things.

My favorites for a few years are the thermo-adhesive labels that stick with the iron. With three girls I have a lot of clothes to mark and with these I do it very quickly.

Rearrange schedules

In the summer the routines and schedules are revolutionized, so two weeks before it is a good time to start rearranging them without causing stress.

Try to go ahead slowly bedtime (10 minutes every day) to ensure that the first days of school have had enough rest and do not go like zombies.

Previous visit the school

A good idea, especially for new students or for the little ones who are going to the nursery or the school for the first time, is to make aA previous visit before the first day. This way they will familiarize themselves with the neighborhood, the entrance, and if possible, enter and show them the patio, its class and the rest of the facilities.

Talk to your child about what awaits him with optimism

Do not wait for the return to school as if it were the end of the world. Talk to your children with enthusiasm about what awaits you. Tell him that he will meet new friends, his teacher, remind him how well it will happen and all the new things he will learn during the next course.

Play together "back to school"

My daughters love to play teachers and it's a fun way to get in a situation. Play with your children teacher and students, or use games that have to do with school, so you can express your emotions about going back to school. You will know if he is excited, nervous or distressed.

Children's books are also a great resource to talk to children about going back to school. There are a few related titles.

I hope these seven tips to go back to school come well to start the course on the right foot.
