An Indian woman becomes a first-time mother at 70

When we thought that being a mother around 50 was too late, we learned that an Indian woman has just given birth to her first baby at 70 after undergoing in vitro fertilization in a specialized clinic in the State of Haryana, in the north of the country.

The old Daljinder Kaur is more in age to be a grandmother and even a great grandmother, than a mother, and let's not even talk about her husband, who is 79, but her desire to be parents was so great that they decided to take the step after 46 years of marriage without achieving conceive.

When we learned that an elderly woman had a baby right away, we thought that the desire to become parents was ahead of the child's well-being. And the question arises: Is it selfish to be a mother at 70?

From our vision, or at least from mine, it is impossible to understand that a person brings to the world a new life that he will hardly see grow. He will not be at your side on many occasions when the child will need a mother, but you have to keep in mind that they live in a country where infertility is usually considered a curse.

"God has heard our prayers. I take care of my only child, I feel so full of energy. My husband is very attentive and helps me as much as possible."explained the mother.
"People wonder what will happen to this child once we are dead. But I have faith in God. God is omnipotent and will now take care of everything."

Daljinder and her husband suffered the contempt of their environment for years for not being able to bring a child into the world, it's a very strong social stigma, but finally they have achieved it thanks to in vitro fertilization, a technique that in India has no age restriction.

It is not the first case of a septuagenarian mother in India, where a 72-year-old woman from the State of Uttar Pradesh gave birth to twins in 2008, also thanks to assisted reproduction.
