To the beach, without risks: five basic precautions with children

August is the month of the holidays and for many these are synonymous with beach. An ideal environment to play, have fun, refresh ... But there are also certain risks and if we want to avoid scares, these are five basic precautions we have to take on the beach with children.

Simple tips that we mention in these dates to prevent scares or that we have a bad memory of those days of vacations that should go great, without frights, and leave us the best of memories.

  • Risk of dehydration. If the child sweats a lot and loses excess fluid, he can become dehydrated. To avoid it, offer water frequently (or breast during breastfeeding) and bring fruits to eat as a snack, lunch, dessert ... Avoid intense physical exercise, as it could also lead to heat exhaustion and seek a shade to keep you cool in beach sand.

  • Risk of a heatstroke. Related to the previous point is the heat stroke, which happens when the body, due to excessive temperature, is unable to regulate body heat. To prevent it, avoid the hottest hours on the beach, avoid intense exercise and make sure you have a shadow to stay on it often. Sunstroke may also occur due to excessive sun exposure without protection and, to avoid it, the same advice above.

  • Burns. We cannot go to the beach without sun protection, especially to protect the delicate skin of babies and children. Apply them, half an hour before going to the beach, the most appropriate sunscreen for them and avoid the hours of higher incidence of the sun. Do not forget the umbrella and a hat. Remember that, inside the water, the sun also affects the head and body and that the cream must be replenished frequently if the stay on the beach is lengthened.

  • Drowning. If the child unintentionally immerses himself in the water, he will lack oxygen in a few seconds. We must not lose sight of the little ones for a moment (it is the best safety measure), even if it is on the shore or in a small pool with little water. Respect the indications of the first aid station (bathroom prohibited with red flag).

  • Cuts and bites. If the child is going to walk or play on dry sand, it is better to wear shoes with flip flops. Check the area where the baby is going to move. We can place it on a mat or towel. Observe the presence of jellyfish on the shore and do not bathe if there is an indication that there is a risk of these jellyfish marine animals (blue flag with the symbol of jellyfish),

We hope that, during the summer days of vacation and leisure, we will implement these Five basic precautions on the beach with children. Surely we will have a great time and it is that spending time in the sand and in the sea is a lot of sensory and refreshing experiences for the little ones.
