Extreme weather? We share nine fun activities to end boredom at home

Although we regularly associate the holiday season with travel, many families choose to stay at home. Take advantage of the days to spend time together, enjoy some afternoons in the park or patio of your home and visit places of leisure and entertainment taking advantage that they are usually less crowded.

However, there are some cities where there are days with extreme weather to enjoy outdoor activities. So I share you nine options of home games for when the weather is not convenient.

We live in a city where the temperature is usually around 40 degrees Celsius during the summer, so there are days when it is better to stay at home, like two weeks ago, when we reached 51. Thinking about some activities to keep us entertained at home and avoid going automatically to turn on the television, I searched and saved some ideas of games we can do on Pinterest.

The activities that I will show you are easy, economical and quick to organize, and are ideal for a rainy day or a very hot day. Many of them you can do with things that you already have at home or that you can easily get in any market.

Balloon games

What child is not drawn by balloons? Whatever the shape, size or color, they all marvel and feel attracted to them. But in addition to being useful for decorating children's parties, we can use them for games that activate children.

  • Don't touch the ground! This is the easiest of all, since the only rule is that the balloon never touches the ground. They can play trying to count the highest number of saves before it falls to the floor and try to break their own record.

  • Volleyball. You will only need a ribbon and two chairs or two furniture to place it and that this is the net. They can play individually or in teams.

  • Tennis. In addition to the balloons, you will need cardboard or paper plates and pole sticks to make the rackets. If you don't have how to do them, you can also use a fly swatter for this.

Games with sheets of paper

Another material that is very versatile to organize games are the sheets of paper, since there are different colors and textures that can help us to make very varied games.

  • Who throws it further? Something that amuses kids and adults is making figures with paper airplanes. We place five lines of adhesive tape on the floor with a space of about 15 centimeters and give each one a value: 5, 10, 25, 50, 100. We launch our paper planes and add points according to the distance where it lands our plane.

  • The floor is lava! Place colored leaves at different points of the floor and play that the floor is volcanic lava and can only move from one place to another stepping on the leaves.

  • Figures and colors. Cut out different shapes in different colors, for example: yellow stars, red circles, blue triangles and green squares. Place them randomly on the floor, keeping at least 30 centimeters of space between each one and set rules for each figure. For example, to reach a star you must do it by jumping on one foot, to reach a triangle you must crawl, and so on. In addition to your children exercising, they can practice memorizing things.

Games with empty cans or bottles

If we have some empty cans or plastic bottles at home, we can decorate them and organize some fun activities.

  • Bowling. You will only need a few cans or bottles and a ball. They can play in teams or individually.

  • Tear down the pyramid. Build a pyramid of cans and throw a ball. The idea is to tear down the cans with the least amount of shots possible.

  • Build the tallest tower. If you have enough bottles or cans they can play to build the tallest tower. To make it more fun and challenging you can try to build it using only the thumbs to lift and place each bottle or can, then make another using only the index fingers and so on.
