The precious tribute to life in a Colombian mountain

The conception is a wonderful moment in which a new life is formed from the union of only two tiny cells. It’s so shocking to us that although there are hundreds of scientific studies, we continue to be amazed at her. And we are so impressed that, on more than one occasion, artists have created works to immortalize the development of a new being in the womb.

But one that has undoubtedly acquired international fame, to the extent of becoming a tourist attraction, is the "pregnant mountain", which is located in Colombia.

Since 2012, a sculpture of a baby in the womb made by the artist Dubian Monsalve Torres, is located on a mountain in a small town in the municipality of Santo Domingo in Antioquia, Colombia. This precious tribute to life was made only with tools from the peasants and it took 15 days to finish it, due to the wet and rainy weather.

In an interview for ACI Press, the author stated that his work actually arises as a tribute to the residents of the area, who experienced a lot of violence in the 1990s. "It was a tribute, like being born again", he declared. But in turn, because of his Christian convictions, he states that"it also represents the woman who gives life, because life is worth a lot from conception to its end".

Currently, it is a tourist attraction for all who visit the area, where travelers and cyclists who pass by the mountain do not miss the opportunity to take a picture with the impressive sculpture.
