A pregnant woman with twins goes into labor in mid-flight: one baby is born on the plane and another in Gran Canaria

So many birth stories we read on the internet today confirm the truth of a very popular phrase: the baby is the one who decides when to be born. We can plan and have a probable due date, but really the last word, they have it.

On some occasions, labor begins when we least imagine it, just as it happened to a woman who was pregnant with twins and who went into labor in mid-flight.

According to information from Antena 3, a plane that came from Brussels had to be diverted to Gran Canaria because one of its passengers, who was pregnant with twins, went into mid-term delivery.

The medical service of the Gran Canaria Airport alerted the Emergency and Security Coordination Center 112, so a medical coordinator of the Canary Islands Emergency Service activated a medical ambulance to assist the future mother when the plane landed. Similarly, they notified the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit of the Maternal and Child University Hospital of the Canary Islands, so that they were ready to receive both babies.

However, and as I mentioned at the beginning, one of the twins had other plans and was born when the plane had not yet arrived in Gran Canaria, so they then required another sanitary ambulance to transport it.

After landing, they were taken to the hospital in the two ambulances, with medical personnel who were assisting them on the way and finally, the second baby was born in the hospital. The mother and her two babies they were in good condition and evolved favorably, so after a few days, they were discharged from the hospital.

Every time we read more about cases where pregnant women go into labor, but remember that it is safe to travel by plane during pregnancy as long as we have the approval of our doctor and do not exceed 32 weeks of gestation or those indicated by the airline .
