Celebrate your small great achievements

For the elderly, the fact of pricking a bite and bringing it to our mouths is a completely mechanical, almost instinctive act. But one day we learned to do it for the first time and it surely meant a personal victory.

My 21-month-old daughter is in the process of learning to eat alone and a couple of days ago she manages to prick a piece of food with her fork and take it to her mouth through strange maneuvers. But he has succeeded.

Every bite that gets into your mouth is an event and a great victory for her, so it is celebrated as it should: in style, with applause and songs.

Although it may seem exaggerated, recognizing your achievements is very important for your development. By celebrating their achievements we transmit security and strengthen their self-esteem. That way we motivate them to continue pursuing their goals. As small and insignificant as they may seem, they are small great achievements towards the path of self-dependence. Somehow, their achievements are also ours.

Eye! It is also important to value and celebrate their efforts even if they have not succeeded. We do not aim at perfectionism but rather the intention that our children learn to try and if they succeed, the better.

While achievements are important, the most important thing is to increase self-confidence.
