Literature review on shaken or shaken baby syndrome

Our partner Elda already explained very well what is the Shaken Baby Syndrome, information that we recommend you read. Now it has just been submitted a bibliographic review that brings together the scientific articles of the last five years, carried out by residents of the Midwifery Teaching Unit of the University School of Health Sciences of the University of Granada.

It has been published in the nursing journal Rol, interesting work, because as Concepción Ruiz Rodríguez says, professor who led the study, the shaken baby syndrome Not enough is known, and the damage is not always obvious to the naked eye, but it can lead to serious sequelae and brain damage.

As our partner reported, the victims are usually those under two years of age, and the aggressors are in greater percentage the men, the father (44%) or the mother's partner (20%). On the other hand, when women are aggressors, they are usually babysitters (18%), although mothers also act in this unforgivable way (7%). It is very important to detect as soon as possible if a child has received abuse, according to the researcher and the data collection done, when this syndrome has been diagnosed it is almost certain that the baby has been mistreated. Health professionals are key to the detection and prevention of serious sequelae, so there needs to be more training for both professionals and parents.

Concepción suggests that it would be convenient to educate and inform the entire population to deal with the stressful situations that are the ones that usually lead the "shakers" to mistreat babies. I wish it were effective, hopefully soon we will be given data and this syndrome ceases to exist.
