Consensus on the Treatment of Asthma in Pediatrics

The press conference was held on June 15 “Consensus on the Treatment of Asthma in Pediatrics”, an initiative developed by all national pediatric scientific societies to unify prevention and treatment guidelines based on the age and type of asthma of each patient.

According to the data presented, between 35 and 40% of children suffer an asthmatic crisis in their first year of life, between 4 and 5 years the incidence decreases affecting 20%, from 6 to 7 to 12 % and 10% between 13 and 14 years.

The Spanish Society of Pediatric Clinical Immunology and Allergy, the Spanish Society of Pediatric Pulmonology, the Spanish Society of Pediatric Emergencies, the Spanish Society of Outpatient and Primary Care Pediatrics and the Spanish Association of Primary Care Pediatrics collaborate in the development of this consensus that allows to improve several factors its treatment, such as the dissemination of information to all professionals about the latest scientific evidence to decide what treatment to give. It is also equally important that family members of children have full knowledge of the disease, how to prevent risks and the treatments to follow, as well as proper compliance with them naturally, as they are the basis for disease control and A better quality of life for the child.

It is a very valuable work, we already see the figures in which asthma affects, in addition to the external influences that help to develop it, everything that can be carried out for greater prevention, good control and better treatment, must be effective.
