United Hands: Third World Mothers Health Improvement Campaign

We tend to consider motherhood as a joyful, shared, safe experience for our lives and those of our children, but this is not always the case.

It may seem far away, but every minute a woman dies because of her pregnancy somewhere in the world, 500,000 women a year according to the World Health Organization (WHO).

That terrible figure is given especially in underdeveloped countries, so this initiative focuses on the Third World. With her, Manos Unidas aims to reduce deaths in pregnancy and childbirth in several countries in Africa, Asia and Latin America.

The Organization has initiated the campaign called "Healthy mothers, right and hope", with which they work to achieve compliance with one of the Millennium Development Goals, signed in 2000 by 191 states of the United Nations.

Specifically, this is the 5th objective, to improve maternal health and reduce mortality by three quarters between 1990 and 2015. Manos Unidas will carry out various events in order to sensitize citizens to this problem and collect benefits.

It is, in short, not to forget that deaths, injuries and disabilities related to pregnancy They are absolutely neglected problems in many parts of the world and can be helped to stop being so.
