Essential elements in the baby's room (II)

After seeing last Tuesday what elements are essential in the baby's room, today I invite you to deepen a little more seeing more concretely the minimum characteristics that must have. Remember as always that all these elements would be the ideals, but that each one of you has to see which ones fit you in the room or if you have any furniture in the house that serves as a substitute for you.

Cradle: Indeed, the issue of the cradle comes out again, and more will come out because we have a post dedicated exclusively to this element. In an indicative way, it is important that the separation between bars is sufficient so that the child cannot put his head between them; that the height is also sufficient so that as soon as he stands up he does not put himself in danger but does not prevent the parents from reaching him. If the cradle has wheels, make sure that there is a mechanism to block them (although while you are cradling the child you use them). Changer: There are several changer options on the market, and you have to take into account to choose the space you have, in addition to your budget. There are fixed and folding changers. Fixed changers are sometimes susceptible to having a built-in bathtub although this is not always an option. The great advantage of folding changers is that you can store them anywhere, once you have finished changing the child.

Always make sure that the baby cannot roll him on the floor. This is avoided with changing tables that have raised edges. In addition, it is useful that the changer has a space to store diapers and all the things you need to change the child, such as creams, wipes and cans.

Wardrobe: As we said, it is important that you organize the closet for your baby's things. Inside it, there has to be a space for clothes and another equally large for all “accessories” such as bedding, bags, walk-in changing rooms, electrical appliances that you are not constantly using…

Space to breastfeed or bottle feed: If you have got a warm and cozy bedroom, you will most likely want the baby to eat there too, either breastfeeding or bottle feeding. Take advantage and prepare a place where the mother is comfortable, preferably a low seat. Doctors recommend putting the newborn on a pillow placed in the mother's lap so that she does not have to bend down.
