"The book of mothers", beautiful compilation of literature on motherhood

On several occasions we have spoken that pregnancy and motherhood in art is not as widely treated as it is supposed to be that its relevant role in life would deserve. That perception, taken to the field of literature, is what moved Laura Freixas to make this compilation: "The book of mothers".

It is a careful book in which we can explore different literary texts of the most diverse authors and eras, with the common thematic thread of motherhood, in all its manifestations, since childbirth.

The texts, by authors such as San Agustín, Apolonio de Rodas, Jane Austen, Boccaccio, Chateaubriand, Eurípides, Ovid, Emilia Pardo Bazán, Galdós ... are combined with beautiful illustrations. The painters chosen for this range from Gustav Klimt or Picasso, a pleasure to visit different visions of motherhood also in images.

The truth is that it is a book that I am charming, both for discovering new texts of authors already read by me, as for those other authors whom I approached for the first time. And above all to discover those eyes on the figure of the mother and her relationship with the children, so polyhedral and enriching.

In addition, as I point out in Blank Paper, it is a very careful edition, in hardcover and glossy paper, which makes the reading more pleasant if possible.

The 'Book of mothers', by Laura Freixas, is edited by 451 Editors, within the 451.zip collection (ISBN 978-84-96822-74-0).
