Women's brains change since pregnancy, so you can create a closer bond with your baby

When we become mothers, we go through a complete transformation, which includes several changes: in our body, our interests, our way of thinking, our routine, our lifestyle, and even our brain. in doubt it is a complete transformation

We had previously shared that the mother's brain was changing to take better care of her son, but a new study found another reason why this happened: to be able to create a closer bond with the baby.

Made by the University of Toronto and published in the magazine Child development, the study was conducted with the participation of 39 women from 22 to 39 years. His brain activity was analyzed through electroencephalograms twice: during the third trimester of your pregnancy and subsequently between three and five months after having your babies.

On both occasions, they were shown 40 images of happy and sad faces of babies and adults. Also on both occasions, women should report if they had symptoms of anxiety or depression, while in the second review, they should respond about how they were now interacting with their babies.

In Babies and more Mother's brain changes during pregnancy to better care for the baby

Having the results of the tests and surveys, the researchers were able to review and determine the changes in the brain activity of the prenatal visit, to the postpartum visit. Women in general showed greater activity in the cerebral cortex during postpartum in the case of baby images, but those who showed the highest amount of brain activity were the ones with the strongest ties to their babies.

According to the researchers, these results suggest that the transition from pregnancy to motherhood is a period of plasticity in the cortical area of the brain, as well as reorganization in it, which manifests in some cases as greater attention to their children and better links between mothers and children.

In a previous study, it had been discovered that dopamine in the brains of recent mothers helped create a stronger bond with their babies, but with this study, we understand that Women's brains actually change since pregnancy, in order to facilitate the bond between mom and baby.
