Withdrawn a lot of natural sponges due to the risk of causing injuries

When parents choose a sponge to bathe our baby we usually look for one that offers a better touch for their delicate skin.

Natural sponges are undoubtedly the most suitable for them, however a batch of natural sponges of the Suavinex brand has had to be removed of the market since they could damage the skin more than take care of it.

Apparently a family notified the Consumer authorities that their son had scratched himself when using a sponge. When analyzed, it was observed that it contained shells and limestone remains of up to five millimeters (which you can see in the image). The lot consisted of 3,000 units and had been distributed to 135 pharmacies. This is lot 3275, corresponding to natural sponges of medium size (reference 302935).

Natural sponges are extracted directly from the bottom of the sea and for this reason they must be processed to remove any remaining shells or calcareous materials. A failure in the washing and treatment process caused the remains to remain in the sponge.

From Facua it is recommended that families who own one of the sponges belonging to the lot that has stopped being marketed go to the establishment where they acquired it to return it.

The truth is It is paradoxical that an element that should almost caress the baby's skin ends up damaging it.

On behalf of all babies who are bathed daily with natural sponges, thanks to the family of the "injured" child for reporting this irregularity. Thus, it has been possible to remove a batch of sponges that could have damaged other children.
