Edible ornaments for the Christmas tree: cookies, oranges and popcorn

The idea of decorate the Christmas tree with edible ornaments, in addition to being original, it fulfills the premise of the three Bs: it is good, beautiful and cheap.

Children can participate in its elaboration and for a little money we can give a different touch to our tree by decorating it with cookies, sliced baked oranges and popcorn garlands.

The ornaments are very simple to make, but they take time. On the one hand, we must prepare an assortment of cookies of different shapes and decorate them. We can make them in the form of a star, a doll (the famous gingerbread men), from Santa Claus or any Christmas way we find pasta cutters. We have to make them thin, but they will weigh too much. Do not forget to make a hole to pass a ribbon to hang them from the tree.

On the other hand, cut the oranges into thin slices and bake over low heat for three or four hours until they are dry. Then you have to let them finish drying a couple of days. If you prefer you can hit some cloves before drying them.

Finally, popcorn garlands are the most laborious. But come on, but we can place the garlands of a lifetime. It's about stringing the popcorn through a thread as if sewing them. To give a touch of color every so often you can place some ornament. In this case, blueberries were used, but it can be any color ornament, edible or not.

The proposal of the edible christmas tree ornaments It is a novelty for me. I find it very beautiful, but yes, if you have ants at home it is the perfect bait for an invasion of insects.

You will tell me if someone is encouraged. And I wait for photos.
