Handicraft for Mother's Day: a rose

Mother's Day is coming, and we continue to offer ideas to give to mom. Today we stop at a fairly simple manual job that the little ones can make with the help of Dad: a plasticine rose for Mother's Day.

In the video we see step by step how the flower is modeled. We can use plasticine or putty, which are very similar in terms of texture and malleability, although the putty can be hardened by heating it in the oven once the craft is finished, giving it consistency, and the plasticine does not.

There is also a type of modeling clay that, if left on air, hardens on its own (they seem to be the ones that are used in the video, like those of Play-Doh that go in that type of airtight boats so they don't dry out).

  • We need green plasticine to make the stem, which we will decorate with a leaf.
  • The red plasticine (or pink, or the color we prefer the flower) will be to make the petals, which go in one piece, rolled up.
  • We attach the petals to the stem, wrapping their base with part of the stem.
  • To finish we make another petal that closes the previous one and gives more volume to the flower.

It is very simple to perform as we can see in the video, in three minutes we have the flower ready. Here we have another model of plasticine flower.
