Upon arrival they were treated immediately by doctor's instructions and had an x-ray of Nash, and then quickly intervened, doing a bronchoscopy. That was when Nicole knew that Nash he had sucked popcorn into his lungs when he had drowned while watching movies.

Nash's respiratory system recognized popcorn as a foreign body and began to swell, which subsequently caused pneumonia in his left lung. Because he was very inflamed when they did the surgery, they took out only six pieces of popcorn and waited two days to intervene again and make sure there was nothing left in his lungs.
