If a few months ago we were able to meet the most famous sextuplets in America, now comes the turn of other sextuplets that could take away the throne of the first.
Heather Carroll, the mother, gave birth last Saturday at Brookwood Hospital in Birmingham, Alabama, to five girls and a boy at 28 weeks gestation.
The birth took place by means of programmed caesarean section, in which no less than 51 health professionals intervened they managed to perform the intervention in just over 3 minutes, in large part because they had rehearsed the procedure six times before carrying it out. Two images of the intervention have been made public, one of them being the head of this entry (the other one you will see below).
Parents have decided to put their six babies the names in order of arrival according to the alphabet: Abbie, Brooklyn, Chloe, David, Ellie and Faith.
The professionals said they were surprised by the size of the babies (they expected them smaller), which weighed between 750 grams and 1 kg and the mother confessed that to keep them nourished she consumed 6000 calories a day (slightly less than triple what would be considered a balance diet).
The most incredible thing is what we always talk about: how a family increases at once. The day I was going to give birth the family had three members. When giving birth, in just three minutes, they became nine.
Now the family just wonders how they are going to take care of six babies at once. Personally I have no idea how to do it, because if with one they gave us ten each day and we still had things to do, with six I can't even imagine it.
In fact, after making the calculation I did with the other sextuplets, at which time I realized the time they used to change diapers and feed them every day, it is not that I cannot imagine it, I do not even want to think about it.
