I don't believe it: one in ten American children has ADHD

A recent survey conducted by the US government reflects that between 2007 and 2009 Nine percent of children aged 5 to 17 were diagnosed with ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder).

These data were made public on August 18 and members of the National Center for Health Statistics indicate that these figures could be due to the fact that children have better access to health systems and that doctors are more sensitized to the disorder. They know more and therefore are better able to make the diagnosis.

In other words, they suggest that the number of children with ADHD was less years ago, not because there was less prevalence, but because the disorder was underdiagnosed.

And I'm sorry, but I dont believe it. It is impossible that a disorder whose cause is not yet completely clear and that is not diagnosable with any objective medical test affects 9% of children.

I do not say that the disorder does not exist, because just as it cannot be demonstrated in any way that it exists (because as I say there is no medical test that helps the diagnosis, but it is based on questionnaires and observing behaviors and behaviors), it cannot be demonstrate that it does not exist and surely there are children with pathological behaviors that, without knowing the cause, could improve if they are diagnosed as children with ADHD and work with them.

However, these children should be a minority, as are children with specific diseases such as asthma, diabetes or even cancer or heart disease. From my point of view Within that 9% of children with ADHD, many children who do not have it have strained, but that have a behavior not accepted by adults.

They may not attend class (because they get bored, because they are too smart or too little, because they are not motivated or because everything doesn't matter), they may not pay attention to their parents (because their parents ignore them, because they are all day working, because there is no understanding or communication, because there are too many norms or because there are none), they may not have aspirations in life (because they are tired of seeing that society degrades itself, because they realize that by much that they study they will not have work, becauseā€¦), but no, these children do not have ADHD and parents and doctors, instead of looking for the root of the problems (which could be some of those listed or others), prefer to say that what they have is a disease, a disorder, and treat them, surely, with a medication that makes that are a little more attentive, that bother a little less, but that keep living with the same problems.
