"Violence is not a game" It is the campaign of the Andalusian Institute of Women (IAM) aimed at the population in general and in particular the educational community, which seeks to raise awareness of the need to initiate children in equal and cooperative values, through toys And the games.

We already know the importance of the game as an instrument of learning and socialization, but the games offered to our children are not always the most appropriate, and we have already seen that on many occasions they are presented as sexist or violent.

In this edition of the IAM campaign, under the motto "Violence is not a game", point eight of the Institute Decalogue was chosen to choose non-sexist and non-violent games and toys:

Avoid violent toys, games or video games and educate to solve problems in a positive, constructive and creative way.

With this objective, the campaign distributed to the educational centers of Andalusia, as well as to other institutions such as libraries, universities or councils, a total of 30,000 posters, 50,000 table calendars and 100,000 bookmarks.

It has also been disseminated through the IAM website and, as a novelty, they have had a presence on YouTube, Tuenti and Facebook social networks.

According to those responsible for the campaign, the objective of the campaign is get parents to have a critical position before the avalanche of advertising and that this serves for a good choice based on principles of equality and nonviolence.

Since 1995, the IAM has promoted this campaign based on the importance of transmitting values through games and toys that do not have gender, that foster respect, co-responsibility and equality.

Although most of the work is done in pre-Christmas time and at Christmas, the results are sought in the long term, as we increasingly buy more toys throughout the year. So we hope that the campaign "Violence is not a game" Stay present in many schools and homes throughout the year and do not forget the values and attitudes it promotes.
