Many are the endearing characters that the animation films of the last decade have captivated us. Among them the prehistoric protagonists of 'Ice Age - The Ice Age'. A story set twenty thousand years ago, on Earth, and that is a hilarious children's movie.
The technical invoice of the film is good, something that has not been surprising for a long time, since the animation cinema with the help of digital technology is capable of wonderful designs. But where the stake is the history of prehistoric animals whose setting is very original and not least the fun that distills the entire film.
This peculiar adventure was directed in 2002 by Chris Wedge and Carlos Saldanha and became a big box office success. His captivating characters soon became children's idols and have returned in several installments becoming a saga that will soon have the fourth installment in the rooms, next summer.
What counts
Twenty thousand years ago the Earth is a wonderful prehistoric world but full of dangers, just when the Ice Age. At this time we meet a very peculiar and strange herd, formed by a hairy always grumpy mammoth called Manfred, a lazy bear with a great comic and very charlatan sense called Sid, a sinister saber-toothed tiger named Diego and finally Scrat, a rat-squirrel crazy about acorns.
These maladaptive animals have a dangerous adventure to do together, since they must return a human baby to their parents. Thus, they escape from burning lava, from treacherous thread tunnels, avalanches, the mystery of diapers ... which makes them the first heroes of our planet.
We like it because ...
The history is exciting since while we attend the confrontations and particularity of characters, really funny, they are advancing in their particular adventure, full of dangers to overcome.
But together they are achieving their goal, while leaving us comic scenes and exciting. It is an excellent story full of humor and action, ideal for the little ones, who will also enjoy the sympathy and charisma of the characters. Where I would highlight Sid, the most charlatan and Scart, a tremendously nice squirrel obsessed with acorns.
Although the film has had new deliveries, all expanding if possible the character of comic adventure, this first part is especially prominent and failed to become a great success by chance. It is a film that passes in a sigh and that takes us to a time where the presence of man is practically anecdotal, and where some unusual animals take center stage.
Values transmitted by 'Ice Age - Ice Age'
Among so many laughs and guaranteed fun we find some very elementary readings in history. The importance of teamwork, of fellowship, essential for these four animals to get together and escape the dangers to achieve their goal.
But in addition, we find the importance of respect for each personality. All of them are very different, each one has its own character (a great success of the film when designing the characters), their convictions and motivations, but they manage to put aside to achieve their goal. The accentuated individualism is relegated to give importance to the solidarity and learn to share, in addition to the effort and work.
It is no accident that the film presents a group of misfits like this, that they could end up with each other, however, they have to "agree" on a friendship, a trust that is taking hold and thanks to the contribution of each one, with their virtues, they achieve their goal.

As I have been commenting, the film will captivate the little ones since the characters are very eye catching. Nothing they usually find in other movies. They are prehistoric animals, well designed, tremendously friendly and that offer tremendously funny situations.
The movie goes very fast, it has a agile narration, so even three-year-olds can enjoy it without much trouble. In addition, it has a short duration, about eighty minutes, something that will make it easier for even the most impatient.
Being a very successful movie and having three parts, it is easy to find it in domestic format.
