Healthy dinners for children: melon with ham

The heat arrived and what you want to children and adults are refreshing lunches and dinners, so we will propose a simple, easy, fresh, rich and very healthy recipe, it is about melon with ham.

For its elaboration we will need the following ingredients for four persons.

  • 4 slices of melon and, if possible, Villaconejos (these melons usually come out very sweet and with a lot of juice)
  • 100 gr sliced ​​Iberian ham

For your preparation All we have to do is chop the ham into small pieces for the little ones, to avoid choking. For the elderly it is left in slices or tapas.

We cut the slices of melon into wedges and for the elderly we wrap the ham around them and in the case of the kids we put it on top and we already have our melon plate with ham ready to eat and enjoy.

The melon properties are multiple. Due to its composition of 80% water, it has few calories, it contains vitamins A, B, C and E, it is rich in antioxidants, it is high in beta-carotene, so it is very beneficial for the skin, it has calcium, magnesium, zinc and potassium and helps strengthen the immune system.

The properties of the Iberian ham They are also very varied. It has a large amount of protein which makes it an ideal food for muscle development, it is highly recommended during childhood and adolescence since in these stages, a greater contribution of this nutrient is necessary.

It has a high content of vitamin B1 that helps with stress and depression, it also has vitamin B12 beneficial for the stomach. It contains high levels of iron, zinc and vitamins B2, B3, B6 and a high proportion of monounsaturated fats, which makes the ham healthy, since the intake of these fats increases the beneficial cholesterol and reduces the harmful cholesterol.
