The London 2012 Games are over although we have the sport as a reference for the little ones

The games of London 2012 are over. Now we have to wait for the next Olympic event, that of Brazil in 2016. The result, in terms of gold medals and (totals), has been that the United States has won with 46 (104), China second with 38 (88), United Kingdom third with 29 (65) and Spain 3 (17) that He occupied the twenty-first position in the ranking of the 204 countries that have participated. Brazil I see that it has been with 3 (17) in the twenty-second position so it will be one of those that will take off on the next appointment and for this it will have been preparing its athletes for more than four years plus the remaining four. I was also surprised by South Korea that with 13 (28) has occupied the fifth position.

So They are medals of hard work, investment, dedication and much effort and sacrifice. It is from small children when the medals are won and I fear that not everyone is willing to endure the hard training when we also do not devote all the attention that their persistence deserves. And it is that in Spain from the end of the games, the only ones, with exceptions, sports that will be seen in the newscast will be those generated by football and more specifically that which refers to the practice of two national teams.

And as I think the sport we have seen on television these days has much more exciting and bright moments than we see in the league of stars every Sunday we have to try that our kids feel the passion for the sport and are encouraged to practice it.

Of all the Spanish participants that I had the chance to see on the television winning medals the one that impressed me the most was Maider Unda. A wrestling athlete who practices a minority sport, so much that she only appears on TV once every four years or so, and that with her bronze medal she has managed to monopolize front pages in newspapers and minutes on television during the competition.

I read about Maider that many children threw themselves into the competition attracted by what children are attracted to sport, by play, socialization, competition and victory. Although when training begins to get difficult, only those who are willing to sacrifice themselves and to follow strict discipline are included with punishments or corrections included. In the case of Maider she says she liked to release adrenaline so from there he enjoyed and went on to win almost everything in which he competed. The Maider Unda website is full of success, sacrifice, commitment and passion.

We have a lot to go through in Spanish sport although there are great bases that work very well. He power of synchronized swimming or basketballFor example, it allows us to think that there are many sports with many options to develop it from the schools, that it can become a very worthy exit for the kids and that the great media can be a fantastic dissemination platform to tell the successes of children throughout Spain without waiting to see them succeed every four years.

I would also like congratulate all the athletes who have arrived in London 2012 and to all those who have achieved results in the form of a medal or a diploma in these Olympic games. They are a great and exciting reference for all the children of Spain who have seen them compete in a very dignified way for television and many of them, privileged, also live.
