Report of Chronicles (in the 2) on bullying: 'The chain of silence'

Last Thursday, the program of the 2 Chronicles issued a report called 'The chain of silence'. Its duration is approximately 45 minutes and it stars victims of bullying (or bullying), relatives of teenagers who attribute the suicide of their children or nephews to school bullying, and different professionals who work in prevention or boarding.

Headed by host Núria Ramos (who tells us that according to WHO one in four schoolchildren may be victims of bullying), transmits the message of 'breaking the chain of silence' to combat this serious social problem that we are already seeing among 10-year-old children. The program team has shared several days with two young adults who were victims for years, both currently carry out some kind of support activity for children who go through situations similar to those they lived.

The girl is Carla Herrero, whose story I met a few months ago, from her blog Silay Alkma has proposed to tell her story of self-improvement: she was harassed since she was eight years old, and the University of Girona granted her an award for a job done while still I was studying for Baccalaureate (last year), called 'A recerca de el own identitat' (in search of one's own identity). She also explains to the girls and boys who suffer that they must be strong, and the role of 'victims' detached.

The main problem to end bullying or bulling is the silence that surrounds it. The victim is silent and those around him look the other way at the joy of the stalker. Chronicles analyzes the causes of bulling and how to eradicate it from schools and institutes

I liked very much to know the IES Front Marí Tutoring Program between Equals (Barcelona), whose author Andrés González Bellido affirms that 'The first thing that has to be worked at the therapeutic level is that he is not to blame for the situation'. Through this program ESO third-party students become the 'tutors' of younger children, with a double objective: that they have someone they trust to tell problems, and be more responsible for their actions.

You will also see the father of a girl who committed suicide years ago, is Antonio Costa and persists in his goal to prove that it was because of bullying. It is clear that parents of harassed children should go to the center and report the problem directly.

Some of the ideas that I want to convey to you (although I ask you to watch the entire program), are that keeping the secret is the but ally of a child who is harassed, that bullying flows in the environment even if it is not seen, and that leaves footprints - something that had already become clear to us - as in the case of the boy who along with Carla tells his story throughout the report.

Guillermo Cánovas (of the Protégeles association), insists on the importance that boys and girls know that from the age of 14 they have criminal responsibility, but first, it is their parents who occupy the responsible role, in the case of Be authors of cyber bullying.

So that, The role of Internet platforms, created to spread 'gossip' about students, is also addressed. A situation that encourages the fact that children are exposed to comments about them 24 hours a day (many sleep with the smartphone on under the pillow).

I think it is important that we stay with the idea of 'break the chain of silence', let's be parents, teachers, relatives, neighbors, friends of parents ... and that it is necessary to believe the victims, not allowing them to feel even more alone. At the same time we will offer enough confidence for children to dare to count.
