Erik Ravelo creates controversy with his photographs to raise awareness about child protection

Erik Ravelo is a Cuban artist whose works are intended to create controversy. In 2011 he was commissioned by the Behaton Unhate campaign, and in it he used images of world leaders, to form compositions in which they kissed (one of them showed Barack Obama and Hugo Chavez in an affectionate attitude).

Now it surprises with photographs that aim to raise awareness about the protection of children. The series is called 'The Untouchables'
They recreate them 'false crucifixions' of children who are subjected to abuses of power by various groups or estates of society. We want to raise awareness about the consequences that, for the development of children, certain actions may have.

Beyond what they tell us, each of us can interpret, but clearly distinguishes sex tourism that uses minors, the representation of how fast food can harm health, sexual abuse attributed to the Church, the effects of radioactivity, etc.

This work may be an unacceptable generalization, Erik may have left out many risky situations for children, the photographs may be of an amazing coldness compared to the reality of many children ... but do they get what they propose?

On this series of photographs that claim to denounce the abuses committed by adults against minors throughout the planet, there are many valuations. Everyone has their opinion, in addition to the individual or how we react when we see each of these images, what is clear is that with them, Erik gets us to know his work.

In addition, and since it is true that children are vulnerable, and this condition makes it easier for them to become unprotected victims, it is not difficult for the works to encourage more than one person to reflect. And this, believe it or not, is also a purpose of any artist ... to bring to the dialogue those who witness their creations.
