A baby is news in Germany for being registered only with father, and without mother. The reason for that, of course, is that he cannot have a mother, being his "mother" his father. It all happened in April of this year, when a man with a woman's body, but registered as a man, gave birth to a baby at home, with the help of a midwife. It is now when the news comes to light.
The reason for being considered a man is that, since 2011, the Federal Constitutional Court of Karlsruhe considers that it is not necessary to change sex to be considered a man (or a woman, as the case may be). That is why this man has been able to have a child, fertilized by artificial insemination.
Surely you will be wondering why she gave birth at home. Taking away that it is an option that many pregnant women take, this man decided to do it this way for a bureaucratic issue. In the hospitals of Germany is forced to register the mother's name together with the birth case. Having no mother, and not wanting to appear under his previous name, he decided to avoid it.
This case is reminiscent of the one we mentioned a few years ago, by Thomas Beatie, who at that time was waiting for his first baby and now has three children of five, four and three years.
As it happened then, the controversy is served because, once a woman who feels like a man decides to register as such, shouldn't she do like men and obviate the possibility of gestating and giving birth to a baby? I am of the opinion that the important thing is that a baby has a family that loves and cares for him, and that is enough with that, but they are certainly cases that give thought.
