Facebook has learned to differentiate between obscenity and something as natural as breastfeeding a baby

On several occasions in this blog we have echoed the unwise decision of Facebook to censor photos of mothers breastfeeding their children. What can be wrong with such a beautiful image?

Well, it seems that the protests of many mothers have given results and Facebook has learned to differentiate between obscenity and something as natural as breastfeeding a baby. It is clearly not the same.

In February of this year, when explaining what their policy was in this regard, the social network argued:

“The social network is not against breastfeeding at all, we consider it something precious and natural. We are glad that it is important for mothers to share their experience on Facebook and most of the images that are shared related to this topic comply with our policies. However, the photos that show images with a bare chest violate our nude policies, which are clear in our community standards. ”

Now we can see one new update on your help page edited a week ago which clarifies the following:

That is, from now on a bare breast that feeds a baby would no longer violate the social network's security policies. But of course, we cannot escape the convoluted minds of some users who can see something wrong in the picture of a mother breastfeeding and denounce her.

We will have to see if Facebook in that case is skilled enough to discriminate what is obscene and what is not. Hopefully when applying, so be it.
