"Mom's album", a story to explain breast cancer to children

The disease is not easy to explain to children, or when they suffer or if it is the mother or father who are ill. "Mom's album" is a story that was born in order to serve as a help tool for mothers with metastatic breast cancer, so that it is easier for them to explain the disease and its consequences to their children.

This is a children's story presented by Novartis, an emotional story starring Mateo, a special boy who for his second birthday receives an even more special gift: Veloz, a rocking horse that throughout the story helps him understand all the phases of the disease suffered by his mother.

According to the Spanish Society of Medical Oncology (SEOM), every year there are 22,000 new cases of breast cancer in Spain but these are only estimated data of the disease since there is no population registry that reflects the incidence, prevalence, number of deaths or cases of metastatic cancer.

This is a project that can facilitate the day-to-day life of patients and their children, that's why we echo him in Babies and more. Children with mothers who suffer from this serious type of cancer have to face, along with them, great emotional challenges and this story can be of great help.

That is why it also has the support of people who have been through the disease and the professionals who treat it every day. We can download the story in pdf. from the Novartis website, or we can watch the videocount from this link.

"Mom's album", the story that explains breast cancer to children, has the endorsement of the Spanish Federation of Breast Cancer (FECMA) and will be distributed in hospitals and patient associations throughout Spain. We hope it helps mothers who have this disease and their little ones, to make the trance lighter.
