The four laws of development

We must never compare the evolution of our baby with that of another, since each baby follows a certain rhythm and that is why each one gets his skills before others. But there is a common pattern in all babies in terms of their psychomotor development, which is guided by the four laws of development.

Taking these laws into account, we can help stimulate our baby in its development. The first muscles that mature are those that are closest to the brain and that is why the baby can turn his neck and thus move his head before turning his waist. The muscles that are larger usually dominate them before the small muscles, so their first movements are always rough, such as shaking the arms and legs.

Our baby's limbs mature from the spine out there that first dominate the movement of the arms first, then that of the hands and finally that of the fingers.

The control of the flexor muscles appears before that of the extensors, we see this when the baby is able to close the hand to grab and later learn to open it to release. These rules are general in babies and help us understand how they mature and develop.
