"Once upon a time ... the human body": medicine available to children

If I asked you what you think our platelets, our white blood cells or the viruses in our body are, what would you answer me? Surely most people will have an image taken directly from the television series "Once upon a time ... the human body", a series that placed medicine within the reach of children.

It was at the end of the 80s, beginning of the 90s, when this program began to be broadcast on TVE that cared about the culture and knowledge of the smallest of the house. Television at that time had a double goal more marked than probably some of the current animated series.

On the one hand, for some cartoons to succeed, they had to entertain the public; on the other hand, he also had to contribute knowledge of the world around them. In the case the series "Once upon a time ...", were topics related to history or natural sciences.

"Once upon a time ... the human body" is a series of animation with a high educational and informative component, co-produced by Spain and France. It explains, quite simply, pleasant and directed to children, different aspects of the human body (how the brain works, what are vaccines, how children are born ...)

But not only does it deepen on issues of the organism, but it also reinforces healthy habits such as tooth brushing, balanced eating or healthy lifestyle.

The series was (and I think it is still) so successful because it explains all these situations in a non-technical way, with a language and situations recognizable by children, being able to identify with what happens to the children protagonists.

And also, obviously, because there are a number of characters that represent the different organs of the human body, cells or diseases. Do you remember the red blood cells and their endless journey through the blood with oxygen bubbles on their backs?

The series was created by Albert Barillé, French television producer and filmmaker, who showed his interest in the education of the youngest through his series, in which You can see merged knowledge, culture, tolerance and entertainment.

"Once upon a time ... the human body" put medicine within the reach of the little ones, but this series also took care to do the same with other issues that attract the attention of children such as history, space or inventors.

Anyway, for me, "Once upon a time ... the human body" will always be my favorite, since I will never get tired of seeing those blue nerve impulses run through the whole body to get messages to all parts of the body on time. And is that ... "life is like that."
