The dangers of not regulating the right to breastfeeding in public

A new campaign created by students from the University of North Texas, USA warns of the dangers of not regulating the right to breastfeeding in public.

No one would like to have to eat in a bathroom, no matter how clean it was, and yet that is what many infants in Texas may be forced to suffer.

As in many other countries, in the state of Texas there is no law that protects the rights of a baby to be fed in public, we speak of being fed to the breast of course. This can cause situations in which mothers are rejected in certain places and are forced to breastfeed their children in spaces that may not comply with minimum hygiene measures, such as restaurant bathrooms.

Therefore, this campaign has been launched in support of bill HB1706 that will give infants full rights to be fed whenever they want and in the best conditions. Remember that in the United States they can arrest you for breastfeeding your baby in public.

Texas is no exception

Unfortunately we are not faced with an exception to the rule, but to something common in many countries, including ours. The rights of infants is something that few governments have really taken seriously. If we were to ask anyone about whether it would be fair for a baby to have to eat in a place and at a certain time, we would probably put our hands to our heads, but if we think about it and look at the different situations that many mothers go through We would realize that those rights are not fulfilled.

Nursing rooms, a patch not a solution

We return again on the same, but it cannot be otherwise. Latancia rooms are places that help to have a more or less collected space, with some privacy to feed our babies, but in many cases they are a scarce resource, little care and that you have to share with the area where to change the baby.

You also have to keep in mind that breastfeeding is a natural act, that we are only feeding our son and therefore one should not hide or have to go through the mall to find a space to do so.

Breastfeeding a baby should be as normal to our eyes as watching him eat a baby

We are not going to make much progress in this type of rights, but we make certain acts related to the upbringing and education of our children not common and absolutely natural.
