Rarely does an image convey as much emotion as birth photographs do. Only a snapshot summarizes a cluster of feelings in the most important experience for parents: the birth of a child and everything that happens on that designated day. The previous hours, the intensity of labor, the time to see his face for the first time and his first hours of life in the immediate postpartum.
The International Association of Professional Birth Photographers (in English, the International Association of Professional Birth Photographers (IAPBP)), made up of more than 1200 specialized photographers in 42 countries, has given its 2017 annual awards and has announced the best photos of childbirth and postpartum. We share with you the winning photos, those that have obtained mentions and other beautiful photos, in total 29, that families have kindly shared for publication.
A winning photo was chosen, which is the one you see above entitled "Road to Liberation", and then a winner for each of the four categories: labor, delivery, postpartum and birth details.
The photo was chosen for its particular story told in the photographer's blog in which labor began at home and suddenly you realize that "it is time". That was the way to the hospital.
