"I'm not pregnant, I'm fat," have you ever been asked?

A few days ago actress Drew Barrymore, tired of being asked if she is waiting for a baby, replied in a television interview "I'm not pregnant, I'm fat", claiming his right to gain a few kilos without the pressure of a perfect body.

She is not the only famous one that has been seen in this situation, and neither is the only woman, since it is quite frequent that towards the end of the first trimester people confuse the incipient belly of pregnant with fatness, and vice versa: that being overweight they think you're pregnant, as has happened to the actress.

Drew Barrymore told in the late night of James Corden what had happened to him in a restaurant when a woman approached him and said: "My God, you have many children!" The actress, somewhat surprised, replied that she only had two and the lady replied: "More who is on the way."

The actress replied that she was fat, not pregnant and left the place trying to assimilate the woman's comment.

The fat or pregnant stage

Has it ever happened to you that someone was confused? Have you looked at your belly wanting to ask if you expect a baby? Have they congratulated you without you being pregnant? Many people have no objections to screw up and ask without further ado "Are you fat or pregnant?".

It usually happens at that typical stage of pregnancy, towards the end of the first trimester at the beginning of the fourth when the belly starts to appear, but it is not noticeable enough.

It happened to me with my first daughter, around twenty weeks. I was standing on the bus and a lady immediately looked down at my belly. The size was not so obviously pregnant (already with the second and third I could tell before) and the lady doubted whether to give up the seat or not in case maybe it was just a young woman a little bit in kilos.

He asked me "are you pregnant?" and I replied "yes, thanks". He got up and gave me the seat. And he added "congratulations, I didn't know if you were or not because of the size of your belly."

There are people who judge by appearance and make mistakes. When you are pregnant there is no major problem, but when you have a few extra pounds and you are asked if you are pregnant, the confusion is not so pleasant. The key is to take it with humor and not give it more importance, as the actress has done.

Has it ever happened to you? How did you take it?
