Associate epidural with breastfeeding problems

A study prepared by the University of Sydney (Australia) between the months of March and October 1997, suggests that The epidural that is administered during childbirth is associated with low breastfeeding rates.

According to the study published in the International Breastfeeding Journal, of the 1,280 women during the investigation, 33% of them received the epidural and 41% underwent cesarean section, and although most of the mothers breastfed their babies during the first week after giving birth, they had had more problems and difficulties with breastfeeding, in some cases they provided partial breastfeeding and many of them removed their babies' breast before the recommended six months, unlike mothers who had not received such anesthesia.

The news shows that the authors conclude the study by stating that it is other evidence that the fentanyl of the epidural can be associated with the difficulties of breastfeeding, but they only give figures, to us, as to many of you, we I would love to have clear and concise explanations, why these conclusions, because the figures are just that, and parents or future parents want to know more.
