A study links hamburger consumption with childhood asthma

If we didn't have enough reasons to consume fast food in moderation and prevent the little ones from eating junk food, now a new study relates the habitual consumption of hamburgers with the highest risk of asthma and other respiratory conditions.

This follows from the analysis of data from 50,000 children worldwide by researchers from Germany, Spain and the United Kingdom. Specifically, children who eat three or more hamburgers per week would have a higher risk of breathing difficulties, but a diet rich in fruits and fish seems to eliminate that increase.

Eating a lot of meat does not have an impact on the prevalence of asthma, according to the scientists who conducted the study, but even so, frequent hamburger consumption may indicate the presence of other lifestyle factors that raise the risk of asthma.

I imagine that among them is frequenting junk or junk food and fast food with other harmful components, leading a sedentary lifestyle, as well as the possible presence of ingredients other than meat in chain burgers and accompaniment of sauces , fried ...

On the contrary, there are "possibly biological" associations between the effects of a healthy diet, which could be due to antioxidants found in fruits and vegetables, and omega 3 polyunsaturated fatty acids, which have anti-inflammatory properties.

This study, which has seen the light in "Thorax", a publication of the British Medical Journal, concludes that the most frequent consumption of fruits, vegetables and fish was related to a low prevalence of asthma, as well as in general foods rich in vitamin C.

I believe that as in almost everything, the middle point is virtue, and it cannot be generalized either, because I assure you that you can make completely healthy homemade hamburgers (at least as healthy as a beef steak) and in that case the Hamburger is our ally. But of course, we cannot be eating the same thing all week, however healthy it may be seen in isolation.

So a varied diet is essential, which includes abundant fruits and vegetables, cereals and fish. Eating too many hamburgers may increase the risk of respiratory problems in children, along with other health problems.
