Daniel and Lucia, the names most chosen by the Spanish in 2010 for their babies

As every year, the National Statistics Institute has released data on the names most chosen by the Spaniards for their babies during the previous year. Daniel and Lucia have been the most used names in 2010.

The trend has not changed compared to previous years. In fact, Daniel and Lucia have also been the most used names for babies born in 2008 and also those born in 2009.

There are no surprises when knowing the general data of 2010. Nor among the ten most chosen names, both for boys and girls, since they are very similar to those of previous years. Apparently, there is no influence of new names when choosing the baby's name. And that in one of the surveys we have done on the blog, exclusivity, meaning and tradition is what parents take into account when choosing a name for their baby.

Daniel is a name of Hebrew origin whose meaning is "He who God is his judge" or "Justice of God", while the meaning of Lucia is "She who bears the light" or "She who is born of the light", in reference to girls born at dawn.

Below you can see the ten boy names and the ten most chosen girl names in 2010.
