"Mom goes to war", another way to talk to your children about breast cancer

Recently, World Breast Cancer Day was celebrated, whose motto this year was "Join the rose". This disease is suffered by approximately 20,000 women in our country, and thanks to all the advances, breast cancer survival has increased significantly.

But there is something that will always be difficult, and it is telling your children (and more if they are small), what is happening to you. And that is why a mother has embarked on the great adventure of writing the story "Mom goes to war", another way to talk to children about breast cancer.

Its author, Irene Aparici, after receiving a diagnosis of breast cancer, kept thinking about how to explain all this to what would happen to her two young children. And this is how the idea of writing this story of self-improvement was forged.

The story that tells us "Mom goes to war" is none other than the story of Irene, who becomes a queen with long hair who has the mission of defending her territory from those who have declared war on her. But for this you must notify your children, the Little Prince.

And not only do they appear in the story, since all those people who helped Irene in real life overcome her illness appear represented in one way or another in this beautiful princess story where cancer is treated optimistically and that, As in most fairy tales, it ends with a happy ending.

After finishing writing it, and first of all, he decided to show it to his oncologist to take a look and make sure he hadn't written anything crazy in history. And to the author's surprise, he not only received the approval but the specialist told him that this story was being used to tell young children about cancer.

It seems to me a precious initiative, since it addresses an issue present in our society and that in many occasions it is difficult to explain, not only to children, but also to family and friends.

Irene's story is a great example that breast cancer does not have to be a prohibited topic, and thanks to "Mom goes to war", we have another way to talk to our children about breast cancer in a pleasant way and adapted to them.
